Reality Project

The intent of Reality Project, as the name suggests, is to photograph normal people, real and nude, letting the body show their natural beauty, with no tricks or retouch, in all its shapes and sizes.

Reality Project - 01

"I have no problem in being naked. Actually I like it. Usually it can be done only on vacation at sea, and when it can’t be done, it bothers me. The thing that embarassed me the most in this project was the photographic act itself, but this would have happened even if I was dressed. I’m very camera shy."

Reality Project - 02

"I never thought of being able to participate in a similar project. I was embarrassed just in reading it. Then I got over the embarrassment and I enjoyed it. And if it happened to me I believe it can happen to others. It struck me because finally the nudity was interpreted as a simple and normal thing as it is."

Reality Project - 03

"Last year I discovered to have cancer in my breasts. I have seen seen everything in my life. I am tattooed, divorced, a cancer behind, I do nightlife since ages and I keep smoking cigarettes, otherwise I wouldn’t make it. I did all the exams and they are perfect. But now I have a bigger breast because of the implant and the other side, the original one, is smaller."

Reality Project - 04

"I decided to participate in the project, even if I am very pudic, because I’m always searching for a truth in the things I do. I wanted to show myself how I really am, in all my simplicity, and with all my imperfections, which I learned to accept over time. I believe that in real life no one like themselves completely."

Reality Project - 05

"The theme of the body and how it is represented is an issue that I feel very close. I tried it on my own skin during my teenage years, when body shapes begin to grow without the possibility of controlling this mutation, and at the same time the mass media and the society used to propose and impose absurd images of unreal bodies, as they still do nowadays. Growing up, I realized that luckily there are also things and forms, which I like. Long live difference!"

Reality Project - 06

"I don't mind being naked. Even in front of a camera. I believe in nudism and I have been practicing it for many years. This project perfectly sums up my thoughts. I live of sports, I have a past as a boxer and I run at least 6.5 miles every day. When I can't do that, I go swimming."

Reality Project - 07

"I'm living a time in my life of total rebellion and change. It's like to be a teenager again. I love nudism and it doesn't bother me at all. The camera, however, worries me even when I am dressed, but I liked the project too much, so I said to myself "why not?".

"The body is a tool to communicate. This is what I've learned working in theater, and I definitely feel very comfortable with my body. This project has given me an idea of freedom and it was the main reason of my participation. My vanity did the rest."

"I'm comfortable with nudity. In theater, dance, burlesque, the body is always something to celebrate. I love summer because the clothes are light. Because I can walk around scantily clad. I love the rain, the sun, the wind, even the bicycle’s scratches on my skin! I am a male in the guise of a woman and all I can feel, I feel it with my body. I am totally physical."

Reality Project - 13

"The body is a sign that can not lie, and perhaps for this reason, it is covered by layers of meanings: from vulnerability to revolution, from eros to sin. To be naked in front of a camera has meaning - also - undress my body from these stratifications to allow, with recklessness and consciousness, to look at and to live it as the first place of an encounter  and a membrane for an exchange with others, with the world and myself."

"I took part in this project since i think it represents best my point of view on the body and its nudity. After long time fighting against my body, recently I've learnt its importance and its charm in my life, although i don’t like it completely. And surprisingly, being completely naked in front of the camera, made me feel very comfortable…"

"The naturalness that I’ve tried in the nudist beaches made me discover this side of me that I did not know. I’m comfortable in being naked and I find it very natural. I wish I could stay naked more often and would like to see naked all my friends at least once to know them better and discover more of their lives."

"Nudity is a natural condition, as natural is the imperfection of the human body. What is no longer natural, is to show ourselves as we really are, both outside and inside. We always try to appear at our best, more beautiful, more interesting. I think this is pretty obnoxious. Looking at the girls in the pictures I felt in tune with the project. So, here I am."

"This is a new experience for me, I had never took part in photo projects before … not even dressed! I think it’s a way to become aware of our body and to perceive ourselves from the outside, a way to distinguish nature from culture. Thanks to Reality Project and to all the people who participate to achieve it."

"I think the nude is one of the most beautiful forms of art. I immediately appreciated the photos of this project because they are totally disconnected from pornography and sexual meanings of which the nude is often polluted and they are also far from the stereotypes imposed by the media. In these photos I saw innocence, purity and truth. I practice nudism since I was little girl, and I've always lived nudity as the most natural thing possible, and not as something to hide or to be ashamed of."

"I guess I don’t really know myself, and every day my body and my mind surprise me, provoke me, they offer me points for reflection. The shots of two photographers who I barely know certainly does not fill in the gaps that I have about myself but help me to get close to even just one of the many imaginaries that I can create. I would also like the rhetoric that the media build up around the woman’s body was unmasked more often, communicating shapes and behaviors rarely seen, teaching us that beauty is also elsewhere. I took part in Reality Project because I’m always behind the camera. Stay there naked in front of it was a challenge. A smart challenge."

"I came across Reality Project while I was looking for erotic-porno pics. I appreciated the representation of naked bodies in private houses, the representation of the daily beauty that lives the streets, the public buses, the places to study and to work. The importance of the asymmetries. After some hesitation, I decided to join the project."

"I'm going beyond cultural loads and unawareness, I’m trying to make peace with my native Me: my body. Learning to live it with care and irony, observing with curiosity and experiencing its own changes day by day, listening through silence all truths it shields, releasing the rough and powerful life that flows in it.
I remained naked in front of two strangers with cameras and they succeeded in doing justice to my body vulnerability and uniqueness with sensitivity and  amusement. All this tastes as an emancipation."
