Go Topless organizer appears downtown with topless women

The organizer of next weekend's Go Topless rally walked downtown with two topless women Friday afternoon, Aug. 17.

Jeff Johnson said the women were exercising their constitutional rights, pointing out that even though toplessness is not mentioned in America's highest law, there are guarantees for equal protection for both sexes.

"There is no constitutional right to walk topless unless the men do too. Women and men should be able to be treated the exact same way, no matter what," said Johnson. "Asheville is one of the few enlightened cities that does it this way." He added, "The civil rights are there to protect you even if people don't like what you do. That's what civil rights are all about."

一個女性無上裝倡權團體昨日舉行 GoTopless Day 2012，鼓勵女性解除束縛，仿效男性可自由在公開場合赤膊上陣。

以美國為基地的 GoTopless 於 2007 年成立，鼓吹女性應與男性享有相同的憲法權利，男性既然可在公眾場所赤膊，女性亦應得到平等對待﹔要不，男性便應如女性般，用衣物遮蓋胸部。

亞裔女性一般較為保守，但昨日在名遊行者中，來自南韓的 Jasmine Chang 是其中一人。

她說：「男女一樣，同樣有胸、有乳頭，只不過是女性的胸部較多脂肪。既然他們可以赤膊，為何女性不可以，反正那是我自己的身體。」

她表示，在不騷擾他人或違法的情況下，她平日亦不介意裸露上身，若遇上別人用奇異的眼光望她，那是對方的問題。

但當被問及丈夫會否不喜歡她裸露身體時，她即回應：「當然不喜歡！」不過都明白她是怎樣一個人，故從來不會阻止她，她亦無意說服對方接受她的做法。

組織發言人 Sylvie Chabot 表示：「為何男人可赤裸上身，女人不可以？女人一旦裸露，就受到侮辱﹑被拘捕，又或受到懲罰，實在太不公平﹗此外，我們希望可以鼓勵女性行使權利。」

安省上訴庭早 1996 年已裁定容許女性在公眾場所不穿上衣。不過，無上裝組織去年在 Kew Beach 舉行無上裝遊行時，卻遭市政府以公園使用者必須「衣著合適」為由，拒發遊行許可證。

今年，市府原一直遲遲未發遊行許可證，但直至遊行前 3 個星期，市府有關部門經開會，突然改變主意，原因是為免遊行組織者以性別歧視為由，受到法律挑戰。昨日全球共有 30 個城市舉行無上裝遊行。

無上裝運動已是第 5 年在全球各地舉行，該組織主席 Nadine Gary 指出，現今的法律制度提倡男女平等，但是女性依然會因為在公眾場合赤裸上身而被拘捕，她指這是侮辱女性胴體的行為。

而參與活動的 Denise Belisle 稱，很多女性仍然受到舊有思想束縛，而且不知道自己有權利。

男性原本在 1936 年的時候也不能合法地在公眾地方脫去上衣，但他們成功爭取到自己的權利，現在男性已可自由地赤裸上身在沙灘游泳了。
