Nudist hotel on Mallorca to double in size

A naturist hotel in Mallorca is expanding following a boom in travellers opting to spend their holidays in their birthday suits.

Skinny Dippers Mallorca, a boutique hotel operated by Briton Grant Hodges and his Spanish partner Jordi, has had to move to new premises due to soaring demand, after it became fully booked for the entire summer season.

The luxurious retreat, located just inland from well-known nudist beach Es Trenc, is moving to premises next door to expand from a five-room to a 12-room hotel - and it is already fully booked for June 2014.

"This year we have had 95 per cent repeat bookings," Mr. Hodges said. "As people were leaving last year, they booked in for this year. We're completely full from April to the end of September as well as for next June."

Mr. Hodges attributes the hotel's popularity to its relaxed atmosphere and boutique offering, which is a world away from the "playing tennis and jumping around" image that used to be associated with naturism.

"There are lots and lots of naturist beaches on the island and the locals are very open-minded to accept tourists - they are very tolerant. If you take your clothes off on a remote quiet beach, nobody really cares," he explains.
